One of the most popular Mallorca festivals is La Patrona in Pollença.The highlight of the fiesta is the mock battle between the Moors and the Christians  on the 2nd August and the fireworks that follow. On 2nd August, the Mare de Déu dels Àngels Day is the day of Pollença’s Patroness Saint, the major festival of the municipality par excellence Since 1970 the celebrations start with the opening speech, which is read in Saint Domingo’s Cloister. Battle between Moors and Christians

Until August 2 in Pollença there will be the festivities in honour of their patron saint, a civic-religious celebration that dates from the first years of the Catalan conquest.The central event of the festivities is the Mock Battle between Moors and Christians, to commemorate the battle by the people of Pollença against 1,500 Moors led by the pirate Dragut, that took place on May 30 in 1550. Pollença received on that day the most important pirate attack they had ever experienced.
